Yesterday, every rescues worst fear came true to one of our own, Furever Bully Love Rescue from the Orlando area. One of their dogs went on a trial sleepover and part of her body was just recovered. The backstory- 2 weeks ago, Nala, went on a trial sleepover with an adoptive family. This family filled out an application, had a home check completed, vet check completed, and a background check. The family had no red flags and everyone was excited for her to have hopefully found the perfect forever home. Furever Bully Love Rescue shared on their FB page on Aug 25th- Nala went to her new trial run home. Day 1 and 2 the adoptive parents kept in touch with how things were going. On day 3 when asked for pictures of Nala they were ignored. Multiple texts throughout that day were sent and all went unanswered. On day 4 the rescue received a picture of Nala in the car stating they were going to AL to visit her mother. Day 5/6 nothing. On day 7 we sent the closest foster we had to their house. The adopter sent her son outside and told our foster she gave Nala away to her brother. We pulled background checks on all family members both in FL & AL. We spoke to several family members that knew nothing about Nala, including her brother who Nala was not with. During this second week of investigating- we spoke to her family, neighbors, local vets, Animal Control, microchip company, and retained a lawyer. In the meantime, I continued to send threatening text messages for the return of Nala to us. Finally, 2 days ago the husband replies and says Nala ran away on the 2nd day they had her. Nala isn’t a runner. We know she didn’t run away. They live on 10 acres w/ only 1 neighbor. At this point we believe that Nala is still on their property either alive or deceased. Reward of $5,000 offered for her safe return. Unfortunately, yesterday 8/27/2021 an update with the dreaded news was released. Part of Nalas body was recovered today. She’s been deceased since 8/6, the day after her adoption trial started. She was shot and killed with part of her body discovered on the property. Furever Bully Love Rescue shared “We will be pursuing both civil & criminal charges on the Malone family. What they did to Nala is too disturbing for details. I want to say thank you to Washington County Sheriff's Office & Chipley Animal Control for going above & beyond today & giving us the closure Nala deserved. Today, 8/27 marks the end of this search but the beginning of a fight for justice. We will not rest until the Malone’s are held accountable for their actions.” Please join us in supporting them and fighting for justice for sweet Nala. While we are breed specific to English Mastiffs, we care and stand beside our partners in rescue. #JusticeForNala Comments are closed.
